Amazon employee approved a bug?
A post on Blind, an anonymous community workplace app reveals an Amazon employee’s shot at getting back at the company in case he gets laid off. The developer revealed he found a bug in his co-worker’s code. However, he approved it in a malicious attempt to break or disrupt the e-commerce website in case he gets laid off. At the time, the company was laying off several workers. He also stated that he discovered the error and merged it into the website’s preliminary server. If not rectified, it may lead to disruption in one of the products.
“It’s T minus 21 hours until layoffs at Amazon, I saw a bug in my coworker’s CR and I approved it. The bug just got merged and if I get laid off, it will hit prod after I’m gone,” wrote the employee. He goes by the username “cPk3du” on Blind. “For those of you that are unaware, Amazon has been laying off since November, a week or so before Thanksgiving. It is still going on now, our ‘leaders’ have been edging for almost 3 months. And the mother load of all layoffs is coming tomorrow,” he added.

Earlier, the e-commerce announced it will be laying off 18,000 employees from its offices across the world. This will lead to an overall cut of six percent from its workforce. The Blind app’s official Twitter account shared a screenshot of the post. Many Twitteratis criticized the person for being “unethical” and “petty”. “No wonder why those who are affected are usually immediately escorted out, or access is cut off way before! A few folks do these pathetic things, and the remaining folks suffer,” wrote one user.
