Twitter’s blue ticks will vanish on April 1; here’s how to keep them

Blue ticks on Twitter have become something of an online status symbol. In an increasingly competitive online world, the blue tick provided a user with legitimacy, status, and x-factor. But those days are over; Twitter has officially declared that the “legacy verified program” is being phased down, and blue ticks awarded in compliance with prior standards will be deleted as early as April 1.

If you already have a blue tick and wish to keep it, you must subscribe to Twitter Blue, which is a paid monthly subscription.

“On April 1st, we will begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified checkmarks. To keep your blue checkmark on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue here:…,” tweeted Twitter’s official @verified account. The tweet has a link that leads a user to a Twitter Blue subscription.

Twitter, the massively successful and game-changing social media network, was recently acquired by billionaire Elon Musk. Musk, who was already quite active on Twitter before taking over, had already expressed his discontent with the blue ticks earned under what was ultimately dubbed the “legacy” program.

What exactly is Twitter Blue?

Twitter Blue is a monthly paid subscription service that grants a user a blue tick as well as access to several improved platform features. Editing tweets, uploading 1080p videos, bookmark folders, and more functions are available.

What is the cost of a Twitter Blue subscription?

Twitter Blue subscriptions are paid on a monthly or annual basis on web, iOS, or Android with localized pricing starting at $8/month or $84/year in available countries.

Prior to Musk’s takeover, Twitter granted blue ticks to celebrities, influencers, journalists, and others who met certain criteria and respected the social media platform’s regulations. But Musk was not pleased, and he stated several months ago that the legacy blue ticks will be eliminated, and that everyone who subscribed to Twitter Blue would be able to obtain a blue tick.
