Hana Horka, aged 57 was unvaccinated but recovering from COVID-19 after testing positive. However, she died two days later. Jen Rek, her son stated that she got infected on purpose when he and his father were sick. According to Rek, she did so to get a recovery pass to access some events. Both Rek and his father are fully vaccinated but, were infected over the holidays. “She should have isolated for a week because we tested positive. But she was with us the whole time,” said Rek.

Horak had to isolate herself from her family but, she wanted to catch the infection because there would be a lower number of restrictions on moving around. “Now there will be theatre, sauna, a concert,” wrote the singer, two days before her death. On Sunday, she died while lying down because her back was hurting. She had gotten dressed to go on a walk but, decided to rest due to the ache. “In about 10 minutes it was all over. She choked to death,” recounted her son.

Despite not taking the vaccine, Rek stressed that his mother did not believe in conspiracy theories about the shots. “Her philosophy was that she was more OK with the idea of catching COVID-19 than getting vaccinated. Not that we would get microchipped or anything like that,” he explained. While there is no point in discussing this now, Rek believes that this story can help convince more people to get vaccinated. “If you have living examples from real life, it’s more powerful than just graphs and numbers. You can’t sympathize with numbers,” he added.

Moreover, the Czech republic noted a record number of 28,469 cases on Wednesday. Currently, proof of vaccination or that of recent infection is a must for gaining entry to cultural and social venues in the nation. Additionally, the government introduced additional measures to make testing compulsory for school-going children and employees. People with nonsymptomatic infections have to isolate for five days instead of 14. About 63 percent of the nation’s population has taken two doses of the vaccine.
