It appears like the Marvel Cinematic Universe is bringing in new heroes daily. The Marvel movies have always done a good job in growing the superhero culture, but the television shows are now pushing the cinematic world to grow even faster. Marvel’s She-Hulk TV show is one such initiative that may have a significant influence on the MCU. That’s right, Mark Ruffalo isn’t the only Hulk in town anymore, thanks to Tatiana Maslany.
She-Hulk (or Jennifer Walters) has long been a fan favorite in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so when Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced the Disney+ series in 2019, anticipation was high. Marvel, as we all know, is notorious for keeping news about its forthcoming projects under wraps. Thankfully, we have some important details regarding the superhero series. The show will air in 2022
It’s a surprise that Marvel Studios can plan anything these days. But don’t worry, She-Hulk will be in the MCU Phase Four schedule. According to reports, the series will arrive in 2022. However, no particular date has been announced as of yet.
Tatiana Maslany leads the cast of She-Hulk and MCU veterans like Mark Ruffalo will join her
After early rumors raised questions, Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany will play Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk during Disney’s Investor Day presentation in 2020. We also learned that Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner, also known as (Professor) Hulk.
Ginger Gonzaga is joining them as Walters’ best friend, Hamilton alum Renée Elise Goldsberry as Ameila. Anais Almonte in an unknown role and The Good Place’s Jameela Jamil as the villainous Titania. Jamil won’t be the only baddie, either. The show will also mark the return of Tim Roth’s Emil Blonsky/Abomination from 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.
It will present Jennifer Walters undertaking Superhuman-Related cases as a lawyer while she fights crime
Because this is Jennifer Walters’ MCU debut, She-Hulk seems to be a traditional origin narrative. According to the comics, Walters got her powers after getting a life-saving blood transfusion from cousin Bruce, and the show will most likely follow along. Kevin Feige has also stated that the show would focus on her profession as a lawyer, which will be fascinating as she is over 6’7” and green. But viewing as she tinkers in superhuman-related cases, Feige indicated that other heroes could jump in.
Rick and Morty alum Jessica Gao is the head writer of Disney+’s She-Hulk
‘Rick and Morty’ is now one of the most popular television shows, so it’s no wonder that Marvel has recruited alums like Michael Waldron, who plays Loki, to join the MCU. Jessica Gao, a series screenwriter, is now appointed as the show’s head writer. She even won an Emmy for her work on Rick and Morty’s critically praised “Pickle Rick” episode. She-Hulk has been described as a legal comedy, and Gao’s credentials totally go best along with it.
Two directors will direct the show
When it comes to directors, the Marvel TV series vary, with some having only one and others having many. When it comes to She-Hulk, two filmmakers will be at the helm. Kat Coiro and Anu Valia will introduce the Jade Giantess into the cinematic world, according to Kevin Feige. Coiro is famous for working for episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Modern Family, Shameless, and the latest Girls5eva. And Valia has worked on Never Have I Ever, Mixed-ish, and A.P. Bio. Needless to say, these two have loads of comedic encounters to deliver to the Marvel series.
Shooting for She-Hulk officially started in April 2021
The COVID-19 epidemic forced the postponement of numerous high-profile productions, including She-Hulk. Principal photography began in April in Los Angeles, although the production was supposed to start in the summer of 2020. Only a few days later, the show allegedly relocated to Atlanta, where production is already underway. According to reports, filming will continue until August.
The show will have 10 episodes
She-Hulk will feature ten half-hour episodes in all. So, when it comes to episode length, think WandaVision rather than The Falcon and the Winter Soldier or Loki. True, compact programs work best in many situations, but the half-hour comedic feel the show’s creators are looking for should lend itself to a lengthier run.
