ENG vs IND: All India players test negative for COVID-19 Manchester Test likely to go ahead as per schedule

Another member of the Indian cricket team’s support staff has tested positive for COVID-19, a day ahead of the fifth and final Test against England in Manchester, as per the reports. As a result, India’s training session for Thursday afternoon was cancelled. Also, India’s scheduled pre-match press conference was also cancelled.

Earlier, Ravi Shastri tested positive in the RT-PCR test before the 4th test. He, along with bowling coach Bharat Arun, fielding coach R Sridhar and physio Nitin Patel is in isolation and have subsequently not travelled to Manchester for the final test.

The entire Indian squad underwent another round of testing on Thursday morning. All the Indian players tested negative in the RT-PCR tests taken on Thursday. This has increased the chances of the Manchester Test going ahead as scheduled.

Virat Kohli and co. registered a thumping 157 run-run victory over the hosts England in the fourth test. India recorded their first Test win at the Oval since their historic 1971 victory. This was the first time ever that a team has won a Test at the Oval after conceding a lead of more than 50 runs in the first innings. England had a lead of 99 runs at the end of their first innings. India currently leads 2-1 in the five-match test series. The final game of the series will be played in Manchester starting on Friday.
