UEFA Euro 2020: It’s Italy vs Spain and England vs Denmark in semi-finals

Euro

Euro 2020, which began on June 11 with matches in 11 major cities across Europe, has reached the semifinal stage. The four nations – Italy, Spain, Denmark, and England made it to the Semi-finals. We have seen some thrilling matches in the Euro 2020 so far and the semi-finals also guarantee a mouth-watering clash.

Spain

Spain started their Euro 2020 campaign slowly with the draws against Sweden and Poland. They beat Slovakia 5-0 to reach the Round of 16. And in one of the best matches of the tournament, they pulled off a 5-3 win over Croatia, becoming the first side in European Championship history to score 5+ goals in consecutive matches. Spain reaches the semis, by beating Switzerland 3-1 on penalties. Ferran Torres and Morata have scored two goals each for Spain in the Euro 2020.

Italy

Italy has been in their last 32 games. They topped their group with the wins over Turkey (3-0), Switzerland (3-0), and Wales (1-0). Roberto Mancini’s side looked livelier in the Knockouts. They beat Austria 2-1 and then a thrilling 2-1 win over in the quarter-finals to book a place in the semis against Spain. Italy has scored 11 goals and conceded just two in the Euro 2020 so far.

England

England reached the Euro 2020 semi-finals for the first time in 25 years. They topped their group with 1-0 wins over Croatia and Czech Republic, a draw against Scotland. The Harry Kane led side looked high-spirited in the Knockouts. They beat Germany 2-0 in the last-16 and then comfortably beat Ukraine 4-0 in Rome in the quarter-finals to reach the semis. England has one of the strongest defenses in the Euro 2020 with five clean sheets. Raheem Sterling is the leading scorer for England.

England hasn’t won a trophy since the 1966 World Cup.

Denmark

Denmark loses their first two matches at Euro 2020 and looked it wouldn’t go far. But a 4-1 win over Russia secured a place in the round of 16 based on goal difference. They beat Wales by 4-0 and A 2-1 win over the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals booked their place in the semis. Kasper Dolberg is the leading scorer for Denmark with three goals.

Denmark has advanced to the European Championship semifinals for the second time. The last time, the team went on to win the tournament in 1992.
