Apple expanded its iPhone 12 recall – check the eligibility criteria

Apple conducted a sort of voluntary recall for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro earlier this year. According to the business, “a very small percentage” of iPhone 12 models were suffering sound troubles as a result of a component that could fail on the receiver module. Apple, the impacted device, was produced between October 2020 and April 2021. And now, as the year 2021 draws to a conclusion, Apple appears to have renewed the service program in at least one region.

Reports by Khaleej Times state Apple will expand the program to include the United Arab Emirates. In August 2021, Apple initially introduced the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro service programs for sound concerns. The business stated that it will repair any qualifying devices for free. The company’s statement mentions, “Apple has determined that a very small percentage of iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices may experience sound issues due to a component that might fail on the receiver module. Affected devices were manufactured between October 2020 and April 2021. If your iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro does not emit sound from the receiver when you make or receive calls, it may be eligible for service. Apple or an Apple authorized Service Provider will service eligible devices, free of charge.”

How to get Apple to fix phone with no sound issues?

If you wish to participate in this initiative, you must contact Apple directly. In some cases, Apple allows customers to enter their device’s serial number to determine eligibility. Once you know your phone qualifies, there are a few methods that you can pursue:

Make a backup of your phone before shipping it or taking it to a retail retailer. Apple also states that if the iPhone 12 or 12 Pro has any damage that interferes with the ability to address the sound issue, that issue must be resolved first. Depending on what Apple needs to do to address the no sound issue, Apple may charge you for those repairs.
