You’ve probably come across the ‘disaster girl’ meme. Yes, the one in which a little girl who has a sinister smile as a house burns away in the background. ‘Disaster Girl’, Zoe Roth recently made about $500,000 by selling the original copy of the photo as a Non-Fungible Token (NFT). Roth said that she plans to use the money to fund her education in college. She will also retain the copyright over it and get a ten percent share when sold in the future. Here is the list of most expensive NFTs ever.

But first, what are NFTs?

Non-fungible tokens are unique and not replaceable. NFTs are a part of the Ethereum blockchain-a type of cryptocurrency. They can be any digital art-drawings, AI, music, etc. Here are ten of the most expensive crypto arts in the world.

Everydays: The first 5,000 days– $69 million

 This NFT by Beeple-a crypto artist is the highest NFT sale ever. Sold for $69 million, it is a compilation of five thousand pieces by Beeple.

CryptoPunks #3100 and CryptoPunks #7804– $7.6 million

Each of these pieces by CryptoPunks were sold at about $7.6 million. These crypto arts are 2 of 9 unique alien punks from Larva Labs. Their ownerships are stored in the blockchain to protect ownership.

Crossroads- $6.66 million

Beeple’s Crossroads highlights an anti-Trump message. It made a sale through Nifty Gateway for $6.66 million in a secondary market. 

First-ever Tweet– $2.5 million

Yes, even tweets can be NFT. Jack Dorsey’s first-ever tweet was sold at $2.5 million. It is one of the most expensive NFTs ever. Dorsey announced that he plans to donate the payout to charities.

Auction winner picks name by SSX3LAU– $1.33 million

Electronic music artist Slime Sunday X 3LAU’s NFT made a sale of $1.33 million. This unique NFT allows the winner to pick the name of the electric music video.

CryptoPunk #6965– $1.54 million

Cryptopunk’s fedora-adorning ape punk sold at $1.54 million in march 2021. It is a unique piece out of 24 Ape punks.

Not forgotten, but gone– $1 million

This 16 second gold skeletal gummy bear spinning video made $1 million. The artist WhIsBe creates several NFTs featuring gummy bears.

Hairy– $888,888

This music collaboration between Steve Aoki and Antoni Tudisco sold at $888,888. This NFT was a record-breaking sale for Nifty Gateway by itself.
