Queen Elizabeth spoke publicly about Prince Philip for the first time since Prince Philip’s death. He died in April of this year at the age of 99.
Queen Elizabeth, Her Majesty, 95, spoke at the start of the new session of the Scottish parliament at Holyrood about the many wonderful experiences she and Prince Philip had with the country.
The royal couple, Prince Charles and Camilla, were also present. The Queen said in her speech, “I have spoken before of my deep and abiding affection for this wonderful country, and of the many happy memories Prince Philip and I always held of our time here.”
“It is often said that it is the people that make a place; and there are few places where this is truer than in Scotland, as we have seen in recent times.”
The Queen, who is 95 years old, and Prince Philip spent many summers at Balmoral Castle, Scotland’s royal retreat.
The monarch wore a Stewart Parvin’s green wool coat with large gold buttons over a gold lively floral print dress for the occasion.
She previously paid respect to Prince Philip by receiving a special rose. It was named after her late husband on what would have been his 100th birthday in June.
