Russia: Body of woman eaten by 20 Maine Coon pet cats after she died at her residence

In an awful incident, the remains of a woman were allegedly eaten by her 20 Maine Coon cats after she died.

As per reports, the woman was a cat breeder and had 20 Maine Coon cats at her residence in Russia’s Bataysk.

The police recovered the body of the woman when a co-worker called the cops upon arriving at her residence. The partial remains were found inside the residence and it was surrounded by hungry cats.

After initial investigations, it was discovered that the woman died around two weeks ago and the cats became hungry. As there was nothing to eat, the cats ate the body of their deceased owner.

Maine Coon cats are known for their massive size and are native to the state of Maine in the United States.

It is a very popular purebred cat breed that presently ranks third in the world’s pet cat popularity rankings.

An animal rescue expert who took the cats under her care said that their actions were “understandable”,

“The cats were left alone on their own for two weeks, there was no food, so what else to eat?” she said. “It’s understandable, right? They ate what there was.”
