The United States finally reached President Biden‘s 70 percent vaccination rate goal. The goal is commendable. Despite being a month late and at a time when the country is in between a huge surge in cases.
U.S reaches the 70% vaccination rate
President Joe Biden aimed on reaching the 70 percent vaccination rate by the fourth of July. However, the highly contagious delta variant increased the number of cases and changed the plans. Moreover, this target marks the government’s estimate for the basic requirements to achieve herd immunity in America. However, this estimate is now insufficient due to the surge caused by the delta variant of coronavirus.
The Biden administration reports that 468,000 vaccine doses were given on Monday. Out of which, 320,000 people got their first dose. “Milestone Monday just in: Today we hit 70% of adults with at least one dose! …7-day average of newly vaccinated highest since July 4. Masks mandatory once again
Earlier this week, Lousiana ordered everyone, both vaccinated and nonvaccinated, to wear masks when in indoor and outdoor public. The new variant is fast spreading and resistant to the vaccine. “As fast as we are opening up units, they’re being filled with COVID-19 patients. As quickly as we can discharge them they’re coming in and they’re coming in very sick. Additionally, health officials in seven Bay Area counties announced reinstating the need for everyone to wear masks. Similarly, public colleges and universities in Minnesota made masks mandatory in indoor settings across the campus. The U.S. is surging with an average of 72,000 new covid-19 cases every day due to delta strain resurgence.
