Kansas City trans woman who spent $17K on rib removal surgery plans to turn bones into crown

Kansas City influencer surprises internet with unique post-surgery plan

Emily James, a 27-year-old trans woman from Kansas City, has captured global attention after revealing her plans to transform the six ribs she had surgically removed into a crown. The procedure, which cost $17,000, was undertaken for cosmetic reasons to achieve a smaller waist.

Speaking about her decision, Ms. James told the New York Post, “I plan on having someone make a crown out of them. They let me keep the ribs, and I was initially going to gift them to my best friend.”

Recovery and social media journey

Currently recovering from the surgery, Ms. James revealed that she wears a corset to manage swelling. Despite the procedure, she shared that her pain level is minimal, thanks to the care provided by her medical team.

The influencer, who describes herself as a “sex therapist,” has been documenting her rib removal journey on social media, keeping her followers updated on every step. Days before the surgery, she announced in a video, “In three days, I’m getting ribs removed on each side,” adding humorously, “I’m going to have an Emily barbecue.”

Her posts sparked a wave of comments and suggestions from followers, ranging from turning the ribs into chew toys to boiling them for broth. One user even questioned how her “meat” would taste.

Responding to the buzz

Addressing the more unconventional questions, Ms. James responded, “Personally, I think my meat would taste delicious,” but made it clear she had no intentions of consuming her bones. “Eating human meat can cause a plethora of disorders that are fatal,” she noted, adding, “So, I will not be partaking in cannibalism, thank you.”

Finally, she confirmed her decision to craft the ribs into a crown, brushing off critics who mocked her choice. “Getting my ribs removed doesn’t change the fact that I’m a kind, loving trans girl,” she explained.

Defending her decision

Ms. James remained unapologetic about her decision, saying, “I know some of your moms walk around with Brazilian butt lifts; how is this any different? It is my money, my body, and I’m going to do what I want with it.”

While her plans have divided opinions online, Ms. James continues to embrace her journey, highlighting her resilience and individuality in the face of criticism.
