Trump-Epstein Birthday Card Scandal: Is The ‘Naked Woman’ Letter Real, and Why It Matters Now

TL;DR

A bizarre birthday book given to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003 contains a scandalous letter reportedly signed by Donald Trump. Drawn within the outline of a naked woman, the letter has sparked controversy and is now under DOJ review. Trump denies any connection, but the resurfacing of this artifact has reignited political scrutiny and renewed calls for transparency in the Epstein case. The scandal unfolds as Trump begins another White House run, turning a private indulgence into a public problem.

A controversial leather-bound birthday album made for Jeffrey Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003 has resurfaced in Washington, dragging Donald Trump back into a long-dormant storm. The album, filled with risqué illustrations, handwritten tributes, and personal notes, is reportedly under federal review, including a provocative letter allegedly from Trump, drawn within the outline of a naked woman.

With Trump involved, the political stakes are high, but is the so-called “naked woman letter” genuine? And why is it resurfacing now?

What is the Trump-Epstein ‘naked woman’ letter?

The birthday book in question was a leather-bound album reportedly compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime confidante and now-convicted accomplice, and gifted to Epstein for his 50th birthday in 2003. According to documents reviewed by The Wall Street Journal and sources within the Justice Department, the album includes contributions from several high-profile individuals.

One entry stands out: a letter attributed to Donald Trump, framed within the sketch of a nude woman drawn in thick black marker. The message reportedly ends with the line, “Happy Birthday, and may every day be another wonderful secret,” and is signed with a squiggly “Donald” just below the figure’s waistline.

The letter’s authenticity is in question, and Trump has vocally denied any involvement. “This is not me,” he said in a recent interview, calling it “a fake Wall Street Journal story.” He further threatened legal action, stating, “I’m gonna sue The Wall Street Journal just like I sued everyone else.”

What else was inside Epstein’s birthday book?

This album wasn’t a typical greeting card collection. It allegedly included

  • Handwritten notes, drawings, and inside jokes from Epstein’s inner circle.
  • A letter from billionaire Leslie Wexner, featuring a drawing of breasts and a message that read: “I wanted to get you what you want… so here it is…”
  • A mock magazine cover by Alan Dershowitz titled Vanity Unfair, with the tagline: “Who was Jack the Ripper? Was it Jeffrey Epstein?”

Bookbinder Herbert Weitz, who listed Epstein as a client in 2003 and passed away in 2020, reportedly assembled the volume.

Federal investigators have not confirmed whether the book was officially included in Epstein’s criminal case files, but DOJ insiders claim the Trump-attributed letter has been viewed internally.

Why is this resurfacing now?

The book’s reemergence comes at a politically charged moment. Trump, having narrowly secured key battleground states in the 2024 election, is again under the microscope. His team has repeatedly insisted on transparency around the Epstein files, and Attorney General Pam Bondi’s “Phase 1” release earlier this year was met with criticism for being too light on substance.

Meanwhile:

  • FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino, both Trump loyalists, have publicly pledged full accountability, saying “no stone will be left unturned.”
  • Elon Musk added fuel to the fire in June by posting (and later deleting) an X post alleging the FBI had suppressed documents implicating Trump in Epstein’s dealings.

The DOJ’s recent reversal, concluding in July that “no incriminating material” warrants further public disclosure — has sparked outrage among Democrats. House Judiciary Democrats are now pushing for subpoenas targeting Bondi, Patel, and Bongino.

How strong are Trump’s ties to Epstein?

Trump and Epstein’s association is no secret, though the depth of their relationship is contested. Here’s what we know:

  • 1990s-2000s: The two men were frequently seen together at Palm Beach, Mar-a-Lago, and New York parties.
  • 1992 NBC footage: Shows Trump and Epstein laughing and gesturing toward women, with Trump appearing to grope one woman.
  • 2002 New York magazine interview: Trump called Epstein a “terrific guy” and remarked that “he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
  • Post-2007: Trump distanced himself, claiming he banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago after a “falling out.”

Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking. Maxwell, convicted in 2021, is currently appealing her 20-year sentence.

Is the Trump letter likely to be made public?

So far, no official confirmation has been given regarding the letter’s release. The DOJ remains silent, and the Trump campaign has dismissed the claims as “deep fake distractions.”

But with congressional pressure building and leaks continuing, it’s likely the contents — or at least a forensic analysis of the handwriting and illustration, will emerge, either through litigation or investigative journalism.

If the letter is proven to be real, it could:

  • Undermine Trump’s claim of a clean break from Epstein.
  • Reignite public scrutiny of powerful men’s complicity in Epstein’s crimes.
  • Lead to legal consequences or at least sustained political fallout.

What does this say about accountability and power?

The Trump-Epstein birthday card saga is more than tabloid fodder. It’s a reminder of how institutions often struggle to hold powerful figures accountable, especially when records are sealed, investigations stall, and partisanship clouds the pursuit of truth.

From Wexner’s strange cartoon to Dershowitz’s cryptic satire, the birthday book offers an unsettling glimpse into the culture surrounding Epstein: one where wealth, secrecy, and privilege blurred the lines of legality and morality.

Whether or not Trump drew the illustration, the story and the DOJ’s response to it raise larger questions: Are we closer to real accountability in the Epstein case, or is it still business as usual in Washington?
