The first half of its scientific name, “Jaculinykus,” is a combination of the name of a little dragon or snake from Greek mythology (“Jaculus”) and the Latin word “onykus,” which signifies claw. The second component of the name, “yaruui,” comes from the Mongolian word “yaruu,” which means quick or hurried.
