Alka Yagnik, one of the most famous playback singers of Bollywood, achieved a major milestone. She is the most streamed artist on YouTube after surpassing Taylor Swift, BTS, and Beyoncé.

Meet Alka Yagnik, the most streamed artist on YouTube

Alka Yagnik is known for her hit songs from the 1990s and 2000s and now is the most streamed artist on YouTube. She surpassed global artists such as BTS, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé with her career spanning over three years. Her songs filled the charts for the majority of the 1990s and 2000s with her reign over playback for leading Bollywood heroines of the time. Her versatility is well known with over 7000 songs in various Indian languages. She has several awards including the National Film Award for being the best female playback singer. 

As per the Guinness book of world records, her songs recorded a total of 15.3 billion streams on YouTube, averaging 42 million streams every day. For the last two years, Yagnik’s popularity on YouTube has been rising. She had a total of 17 billion and 16.6 billion streams in 2021 and 2020 respectively. Bad Bunny is second to her on this year’s list with 14.7 billion streams. Moreover, three more initial singers- Udit Narayan, Arijit Singh, and Kumar Sanu also made the top five in 2022. 

In 2022, BTS had 7.95 billion streams

Fans of Alka Yagnik are ecstatic with the news. Moreover, people across the world are shocked that she surpassed international artists such as BTS and BLACKPINK. In 2022, BTS had 7.95 billion streams with BLACKPINK having 7.03 billion. Taylor Swift dropped to the 26th position on the list with 5.7 billion streams and Drake slipped to the 50th position with a total of 2.9 billion streams. On the other hand, The Weeknd took the 13th position with a total of 5,7 billion streams on YouTube.
