As the streamer unveiled a brand-new teaser for the forthcoming episode of Strange New Worlds season two, we finally have more details about Paramount+’s upcoming musical Star Trek episode. Subspace Rhapsody is the name of the episode. It is advertised as being the first episode with a musical theme. It was revealed at San Diego Comic-Con. Ten original songs, including a musical rendition of the series’ name, will be included in Subspace Rhapsody. Kay Hanley and Tom Polce are responsible for the music and lyrics. In addition, a trailer for season 4 of Star Trek: Lower Decks, which debuts on September 7 on Paramount+, and a new clip from the impending final season of Star Trek: Discovery was shown at the Star Trek Comic-Con panel.

The much anticipated Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks crossover episode, in which Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsome play their animated characters from the latter series for the first time in live-action, is confirmed, among other things. This will also be shown on Paramount+. Strange New Worlds’ Season 2 has been dropping indications about the musical prowess of its cast members. When she sang tones to activate an item of extraterrestrial technology in an episode, Celia Rose Gooding’s Uhura teased her vocal prowess. As you can see in the teaser video, she will have the opportunity to sing some high notes during this musical episode. Letters to Cleo’s Kay Hanley and Tom Polce wrote “Subspace Rhapsody” songs from scratch. That’s excellent news for anyone who likes Star Trek and the 2001 cult classic Josie and the Pussycats, in which Hanley performed the voice of the movie’s lead actress Rachel Leigh Cook.
The Star Trek Comic-Con panel also featured a new clip from the upcoming final season of Star Trek: Discovery and a trailer for season 4 of Star Trek: Lower Decks, which debuts on Paramount+ on September 7. These announcements were made in addition to the musical episode. The most shocking development, however, was the announcement that the highly anticipated Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks crossover episode, which will see Jack Quaid and Tawny Newsome portray their animated characters from the latter series in live-action for the first time, will be streamable on Paramount+ starting at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, a day earlier than the show’s customary Thursday release date.
