meteors

The Geminid meteor shower will be active from December 4 to December 14, with a peak on December 14 night. Throughout the entire period, you may see Geminid meteors whenever the shower’s “radiant point” is above the horizon. According to In the Sky, the meteor shower will become visible from New Delhi at 6.53 PM IST on Thursday, December 14, when its radiant points should peak beyond the eastern horizon. The meteor shower should then be visible until 6.36 a.m. the next day.

A meteor shower, unlike many other celestial occurrences, does not necessitate the use of any specific equipment

According to Time and Date, there might be up to 150 meteors per hour in the sky at its height. The Geminid meteor shower receives its name from the Gemini constellation, which appears to be where the meteor shower originates. A meteor shower, unlike many other celestial occurrences, does not necessitate the use of any specific equipment. Find a distant area away from the city lights to obtain the greatest view of the meteor shower. After that, all you need is a clean sky. Allow your eyes to acclimate to the darkness for around 15 to 20 minutes after arriving at your destination.

You can find the constellation with an interactive sky map app on your phone. You can use an interactive sky map application on your phone to spot the constellation Gemini, where the meteor shower will originate from. The meteor 3200 Phaeton caused the Geminid meteor shower. The only significant showers that are not generated by a comet are the Geminids and the Quadrantids. When the Earth passes through the dusty path left by the meteor 3200 Phaeton, some of the meteoroids left behind burn up in our planet’s upper atmosphere, causing the Geminid meteor shower to appear to us.
