Tiger Woods and sportswear behemoth Nike are calling it quits after nearly 30 years together. Woods announced the split on Monday via his social media platforms.
“Over 27 years ago, I was fortunate to start a partnership with one of the most iconic brands in the world. The days since have been filled with so many amazing moments and memories; if I started naming them, I could go on forever,” Woods wrote. “[Former Nike CEO] Phil Knight’s passion and vision brought this Nike and Nike Golf partnership together and I want to personally thank him, along with the Nike employees and incredible athletes I have had the pleasure of working with along the way.”
Nike, meanwhile, shared a photo of Woods with the caption, “It was a hell of a round, Tiger.”

Nike signed Woods as a 20-year-old golf phenom, eventually developing his brand with the signature interconnected “TW” logo and paying him hundreds of millions of dollars in the process. Woods, of course, went on to become one of the greatest golfers of all time, and he has since expanded into the media space with his upcoming primetime golf league, TGL.
A terrible car accident in 2021 left Woods believing that his pro career was over, though he has since made a comeback to the sport.
When Nike exited the golf equipment market a few years ago, Woods signed with TaylorMade for clubs and Bridgestone for balls, but his apparel, including his signature red polo shirt, has always featured the Nike swoosh.
Woods hinted that he would announce a new apparel deal soon.
“People will ask if there is another chapter,” he wrote. “Yes, there will certainly be another chapter.”
