Fifa suspends Spanish football chief Luis Rubiales from all football-related activity over Hermoso kiss

The governing body of football, FIFA has temporarily suspended the president of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales. On Friday, it was reported that he resigned from his position as a result of intense political pressure within Spain. Rubiales, on the other hand, was adamant that he would not resign. He was investigated after kissing striker Jenni Hermoso on the lips after Spain’s 1-0 win over England in the Women’s World Cup final last week. He was in the VIP section of Stadium Australia when he performed the contentious post-game celebration. Notably, he was standing beside Spain’s Queen Letizia and her 16-year-old daughter.

The decision adopted by the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has been communicated today to Mr. Luis Rubiales

After Hermoso received the winner’s medal on the podium, he kissed striker Jenni Hermoso on the lips. The videos of the incident went viral on social media, and it goes without saying that Rubiales’ behavior was appalling. “The decision adopted by the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has been communicated today to Mr. Luis Rubiales, the RFEF, and (European soccer body) UEFA for due compliance.” The committee said it would not provide any further information on the disciplinary proceedings until a final decision was taken.
