Solar eclipse prompts Yankees to postpone start time of April 8 game against Marlins

North America prepares for its second total solar eclipse in seven years on April 8. The total solar eclipse on April 8th will shed eerie darkness over a significant area of the United States, Canada, and Mexico during totality.

What time is the Yankees vs. Marlins game on April 8?

The Yankees have opted to postpone the start time of their April 8 game against the Marlins from 2:05 p.m. to 6:05 p.m., the team stated. The first pitch for the series opener between the two teams in The Bronx was scheduled to be thrown only minutes before the solar eclipse began in New York City.

Jordan McPherson, a Miami Herald reporter, posted the updated time on X. He wrote – “The@BallyMarlins broadcast said Monday’s #Marlins-Yankees game at Yankee Stadium will change to a 6:05 p.m. first pitch. It was originally scheduled for 2:05 p.m. Solar eclipse is happening that day.”

What time is the solar eclipse in New York?

The solar eclipse in New York City will begin at about 2:10 p.m. and continue for approximately two hours and 26 minutes, ending at around 4:36 p.m. NASA has announced that the best time to witness the eclipse is 3:15 p.m., and it is expected to be the last solar eclipse in the United States for the next two decades.

Even though New York will not see a total solar eclipse, meaning it will not become dark throughout the event, locals should see 90 percent of the sun covered by the moon at the event’s peak.

The Yankees had planned a unique giveaway for Monday’s game, which would take place during the event.

The team intends to give out special Yankees Solar Eclipse Day T-shirts to the first 15,000 spectators that arrive at Yankee Stadium.
