Two players of the Indian cricket team in England have tested positive for COVID-19. Both the players have been isolated from the rest of the squad. While one of the players has already returned negative and the other one is home quarantined at his relatives’ place.
According to a report in Indian Express, the player experienced soreness in the throat and took the COVID-19 test, which returned positive. The teammates and support staff who came in contact with the player were kept in isolation for three days and are out of it.
“Luckily, there is nothing to worry as one of the players has already returned negative since testing positive. The other player will be tested on Sunday and is currently in isolation. He is asymptomatic as well. We are confident that he can join the camp soon after negative reports,” BCCI source said to PTI
Teammates and the support staff who came in contact with the positive players have also been asked to stay in isolation for the next three days. And they will be joined with the team after finishing their quarantine.
Recently, there was a breach in the bio bubble in the England camp. ECB had confirmed that seven members including three players and four staffers had tested positive. As a result, the entire England squad was sent into isolation before the start of the ODI series against Pakistan. A second-string side was selected for the ODI series. Eventually, The Ben Stokes-led side whitewashed Pakistan 3-0.

“The three-day game will see a number of players from the county circuit feature as they go up against the Indian national side. The game will be played strictly behind closed doors,” Durham cricket stated on Wednesday.
