A couple who were killed for killing two kids by hurling them out an apartment building window wanted to start a family together according to the China Daily. The heinous conduct committed by Zhang Bo and his lover Ye Chengchen, who were harshly punished, sparked widespread anger.

According to China Daily, the two are likely to have died after being administered a lethal injection on Wednesday (January 31), more than two years after their death sentence was granted by China’s Supreme Court.

In 2020, the court convicted Zhang of tossing his two children out the window of a high-rise apartment on the 15th floor. The court also convicted Ye of putting pressure on her boyfriend to kill the children.

Zhang has two children: a one-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl. His fiancée put pressure on him to get rid of the children, believing they were an “obstacle” in their relationship.

Zhang kept Ye in the dark regarding his children

Zhang began an affair with Ye without telling her he had two children from his previous marriage according to a New York Post report. He divorced his then-wife Chen Meilin in February 2020, but Ye pressured him to end the lives of his children.

Zhang appeared grief-stricken in footage uploaded on Chinese social media as a result of the deed he did. According to the publication, the man was reportedly spotted sobbing excessively and pounding his head against the wall.

Zhang told the authorities that the children “fell” while he was sleeping and that he awoke after hearing people shouting below. The children’s mother was devastated to find that her children had died.

“The moment I heard my kids were thrown out of the 15th floor by their father and the mistress, I couldn’t find any words to describe my feelings,” said Chen, as reported by The New York Post.

“I couldn’t imagine what my kids had experienced from the 15th floor to the ground. Were they desperate? Were they afraid?” she said.

Zhang and Ye’s cold-blooded crime caused shockwaves throughout China.
