Kozhikode: AICC General Secretary K. C. Venugopal, MP, released Gandhiji for Our Times by presenting its first copy to Tushar Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi’s great-grandson. The event was held at the Mohammed Abdur Rahiman Sahib Memorial Hall in Kozhikode.
The book is written by Buddhdev Pandya, a UK-based writer and human rights advocate whose work engages with Gandhian ideas. Prominent writer and columnist Mansoor Palloor has written its foreword.
“Gandhiji’s faith was not a fixed claim to religious superiority. It was an unending search for Truth, expressed through righteous action, compassion, nonviolence and service to the most vulnerable,” Palloor writes in the foreword.
The book examines the relevance of Gandhi’s ideas today. It presents truth as a lifelong search requiring honesty and humility, and nonviolence as a courageous response to injustice. It also discusses equality, religious harmony, self-reliance and the responsibility of leaders to protect the most vulnerable.
