North Korea cracking down on 'capitalist fashion'

The supreme leader of North Korea‘s totalitarian regime Kim Jong Un intensified the crackdown on the capitalist ‘Western fashion’. It includes tight jeans, piercing, and dyed hair.

As per Radio Free Asia, the country’s Socialist Patriot Youth League is now directing its authoritarian efforts toward women in their 20s and 30s.

People who are caught wearing such clothes must wait on the side of the road. They have to wait until the youth patrol completes its area search for more violaters.

The offenders will then be taken to the Youth office to confess the crime in writing. They will only be able to go once someone brings them appropriate attire.

RFA’s unnamed source said that the increased battles against Western trends were announced during the last month’s nationwide educational session. During the session, the Youth officials announced that dressing and hairstyling like Western people is a breach of North Korea’s socialist practices.

Kim Jong Un, over a year ago slammed the foreign fashion calling it ‘dangerous poison’. This speech led to North Korea first announcing the ban on mentioned capitalist fashion.

Since then North Korea’s Socialist Patriot Youth League has also amplified its efforts to single out people wearing styles that imitate the capitalist flair. And if anyone is caught violating these rules their employers will be notified.

Patrols in the city of Chongjin are targeting hangout sites for young people like local marketplaces, according to another RFA anonymous source.

Another source said that government-controlled loudspeakers announced – people violating rules will be subject to criticism. And in severe cases, their names, workplaces, and home addresses will be made public too.
