Princess Beatrice's ex-boyfriend found dead in Miami hotel room; drug overdose suspected

Earlier this year, Princess Beatrice’s ex-boyfriend was discovered dead in a Miami hotel room, with a suspected overdose. The Miami police department confirmed that the man who passed away in the M Miami Worldcenter hotel on February 7 was Paolo Liuzzo, as reported by The Independent. Authorities are investigating Liuzzo’s death as an “overdose death.” His body was repatriated to Long Island, New York, where a funeral was held on February 16. According to his death certificate, he worked as an art industry consultant and was never married.

Princess Beatrice, daughter of the controversial Prince Andrew, began dating Liuzzo in 2005

Sources said he had struggled with drugs and racked up big gambling debts. A longtime friend of Liuzzo said, ”Paolo was not doing great on a personal level. He loved to party and gamble. He began using a lot of pharmaceutical drugs but that later led to cocaine and harder drugs. It was a very fast lifestyle and we all feared it would catch up with him eventually. He was always borrowing money to pay off loans. It became a vicious cycle.”

Previously, he faced arrest in Australia for various offenses, including cocaine possession. Princess Beatrice, daughter of the controversial Prince Andrew, began dating Liuzzo in 2005 when she was 17 and he was 24.

Their relationship became public when he was invited by Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson to join them on a skiing holiday in Verbier. However, the couple split in 2006 after it was revealed that he had to return to the US for violating the terms of his probation for an assault conviction. In 2020, Princess Beatrice married property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a surprise, scaled-back ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She welcomed her first child, a baby girl, in September 2021.
