Tesla Cybertruck owners complain of vehicle breakdown after car wash

Tesla Cybertruck owners reported that their electric pickup truck broke down after going through a car wash.

According to a report in the Independent, after driving the $80,000 Cybertruck for only two months and with fewer than 3,400 miles on the clock, an owner claimed the truck broke down after washing off some sand from the beach.

TikTok user @captain.ad uploaded a video of his broken Cybertruck and claimed that he attempted to reset it but was unable to get it to work. The vehicle was dubbed a “tin can,” a “lemon,” and a “paperweight” by internet users, who also mocked the fact that, while it appears bulletproof, it is not waterproof.

Two buttons on the steering wheel caused a five-hour computer reset, allowing the broken-down Cybertruck to resume again.

According to the user, “What (Tesla) said was, ‘It is a known issue in the Cybertruck that when you do a screen reset, instead of resetting in the standard two minutes, it takes five hours’.”

Notably, the electric car maker includes various warnings and concerns associated with cleaning the vehicle in the owner’s manual for the Cybertruck. It includes a caution not to wash it in direct sunlight, as well as recommendations for avoiding damage while having your automobile washed. According to the outlet, the instruction states: “Failure to put the Cybertruck in Car Wash Mode may result in damage (for example, to the charge port or windshield wipers). Damage caused by car washes is not covered by the warranty.”
