In a separate 2015 exchange, the day of a CNN Republican debate, Wolff warned Epstein that Trump might be asked about his relationship with him. Epstein responded by asking how he should handle the situation. Wolff’s reply was strikingly strategic:
“I think you should let him hang himself… If he says he hasn’t been on the plane or to the house, then that gives you political currency.”
