According to the article, more than 10,000 people signed up for a government scheme to pay them for missed wages after being hospitalized for rare but serious adverse effects from the vaccine. Compensation for Covid Vaccine Side Effects starts at A$5,000, implying that if every claim approves, the scheme will cost at least A$50 million.
According to its website, Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration has received over 79,000 reports. It is of harmful side effects from 36.8 million doses of vaccination. A hurting arm, headache, fever, and chills are the most common side effects as per reports.
The TGA has received 288 reports of heart inflammation associated with the Pfizer Inc. vaccine. Also, 160 cases of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS), a rare clotting illness linked to the AstraZeneca Plc vaccine. According to the TGA, nine deaths have been related to the immunization campaign. The vast majority of whom were 65 or older.
Following a setback in the first half of the year, Australia increased its vaccine campaign in the second half of the year after the delta variant put the country’s two main cities, Sydney and Melbourne, on lockdown for months. As immunization rates rise, restrictions are gradually reducing in recent weeks.
On Tuesday, New South Wales, the country’s most populous state, reported 212 cases of Coronavirus, while Victoria reported 797.
