Avengers: Doomsday Tickets Go on Sale Five Months Early: Everything Marvel Fans Need to Know

Doomsday

Marvel Studios is giving fans an unusually early chance to secure seats for one of its biggest releases yet. According to a new report, advance ticket sales for Avengers: Doomsday will begin this month—roughly five months before the film arrives in theaters on December 18.

The early rollout won’t apply to every screening, but it signals Disney’s confidence in what is expected to be one of the biggest box office events of 2026. With Robert Downey Jr. returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Doctor Doom and the Russo brothers back in the director’s chair, anticipation for the film is already running high.

When do Avengers: Doomsday tickets go on sale?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, advance tickets for Avengers: Doomsday are expected to go on sale as early as July 20.

However, the early sales are not for standard showings.

Instead, Disney is reportedly opening bookings for Infinity Vision, a premium large-format theatrical experience that will be available at select theaters.

General ticket sales for regular screenings are expected to be announced closer to the movie’s December release.

What is Infinity Vision?

Infinity Vision is a premium movie presentation format designed to deliver a more immersive viewing experience.

While Disney and exhibitors have yet to release complete technical specifications, premium formats typically offer:

  • Larger screens
  • Enhanced projection quality
  • Improved surround sound
  • Premium seating at participating locations

Launching ticket sales months in advance allows Marvel’s most dedicated fans to reserve seats for these limited premium screenings before wider bookings begin.

Why are tickets going on sale so early?

Selling tickets months before release isn’t common, but it’s becoming more frequent for major blockbuster franchises with massive fan demand.

Early ticket sales help:

  • Measure audience demand.
  • Build excitement through marketing campaigns.
  • Encourage premium-format bookings.
  • Generate early box office momentum.

Marvel previously used similar strategies for films such as Avengers: Endgame, where advance ticket demand overwhelmed ticketing websites.

With Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU in a completely different role, Disney appears to be expecting another surge in demand.

Robert Downey Jr. returns—but not as Iron Man

One of the biggest surprises in Marvel history came when the studio revealed that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the MCU—not as Tony Stark, but as Victor Von Doom, better known as Doctor Doom.

Doctor Doom is widely considered one of Marvel Comics’ greatest villains.

Unlike many MCU antagonists, Doom combines scientific brilliance with mystical abilities, making him one of the franchise’s most formidable characters.

Downey’s casting represents a dramatic shift after more than a decade portraying Iron Man, the hero who helped launch the modern MCU.

Who else is returning?

Marvel is assembling an ambitious cast for Avengers: Doomsday.

According to current reports, Chris Evans is expected to return despite Captain America’s farewell in Avengers: Endgame.

Chris Hemsworth is also expected to reprise his role as Thor, while additional returning heroes and multiverse characters are anticipated as Marvel builds toward its next crossover event.

Marvel has not yet officially confirmed the complete cast.

How long is Avengers: Doomsday?

Reports indicate that the current listed runtime for Avengers: Doomsday is approximately 165 minutes, or 2 hours and 45 minutes.

If that runtime remains unchanged, the film would rank among Marvel’s longest movies.

For comparison:

  • Avengers: Infinity War — 149 minutes
  • Avengers: Doomsday (current listing) — 165 minutes
  • Avengers: Endgame — 181 minutes

Because the movie is still several months from release, the final runtime could change before theaters receive the completed version.

Marvel and Disney have not officially confirmed the runtime.

Avengers: Endgame is returning to theaters

Before Avengers: Doomsday arrives, Marvel is also planning to bring Avengers: Endgame back to theaters.

The re-release, reportedly titled Avengers: Endgame Encore, is expected to debut on September 25.

Like the early Doomsday screenings, the Encore release is expected to be available in Infinity Vision theaters.

The re-release gives longtime MCU fans another opportunity to revisit the franchise’s biggest theatrical success before the next major chapter begins.

Why Avengers: Doomsday could be Marvel’s biggest film in years

Marvel has faced mixed box office results since Endgame, but Avengers: Doomsday represents a major reset for the franchise.

Several factors are fueling excitement:

  • Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU.
  • The Russo brothers directing again.
  • Doctor Doom making his MCU debut.
  • Returning Avengers and legacy characters.
  • The beginning of Marvel’s next major crossover storyline.

If early ticket demand mirrors previous Avengers films, Doomsday could become one of the year’s highest-grossing releases.

What fans should expect next

Marvel is expected to release additional trailers, promotional footage, and cast announcements over the coming months.

Disney will likely expand ticket sales to general screenings closer to the December premiere after the initial Infinity Vision rollout.

Fans planning to watch the film in premium formats may want to monitor official ticketing announcements, as those screenings are expected to sell out quickly.

Key takeaways

  • Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to release in theaters on December 18.
  • Early ticket sales are reportedly expected to begin around July 20.
  • Initial bookings will be limited to Infinity Vision premium-format theaters.
  • Robert Downey Jr. returns to the MCU as Doctor Doom, not Iron Man.
  • Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth are expected to return.
  • The currently listed runtime is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes, though Marvel has not officially confirmed it.
  • Avengers: Endgame Encore is expected to return to theaters on September 25.
