Billboard just released the top ten best-performing songs in America this week on a chart that is out. With their smash songs, BTS, a popular South Korean boyband, continues to control the Billboard charts. BTS has now held the top spot on the 2021 charts for the ninth week with their hit song ‘Butter,’ surpassing the previous Hot 100 record set by international singer Olivia Rodrigo with ‘Drivers License’ in January-March earlier this year. BTS Butter beats Olivia Rodrigo for the longest-running No1 song of 2021.

According to the most recent Billboard HOT100 Charts for this week, BTS Butter beats Olivia Rodrigo, is at No. 1, with Olivia Rodrigo’s “Good 4 U” in second place and Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow’s “Industry Baby” in third. Surprisingly, BTS’ most recent single, “Permission to Dance,” has remained in the Top 10 list at number nine. BTS’s “Permission to Dance” had already broken its own “Butter” record for a single week, putting the Bangtan Boys at the top of the Billboard Hot100 for ten weeks in a row.

Success of BTS Butter

Until July 29, ‘Butter’ had received over 30.5 million radio plays and 8.1 million streams in the United States alone. It’s one of the best-selling songs of all time, with 112,900 downloads, and it’s been at No. 1 on Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart for 9 weeks in a row. Later, ‘Permission to Dance’ remained at No. 2 on the same chart, marking yet another significant achievement for the band.

The success of ‘Butter’, however, does not end there. The song has also charted at No. 6 on Billboard’s Global rankings (excluding the US streams). It also ranked 8th in the Global 200 ranking. Similarly, ‘Permission to Dance’ reached the 3rd and 6th positions on the same charts.

Since Roddy Ricch’s “The Box,” which ruled the all-encompassing and highly competitive chart for 11 weeks in 2020, “Butter” is the longest-running No. 1 single on the Hot 100.
