Singer Zayn Malik and supermodel Gigi Hadid have decided to part ways after being in a relationship for two years. Multiple sources confirm the couple is no longer together. However, the ex-couple will continue to co-parent their daughter Khai.
“They are not together right now. They are both good parents though,” says a family friend. “The couple will co-parent. Yolanda is of course very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.” “Gigi is solely focused on the best for Khai. She asks for privacy during this time,” Gigi’s rep tells PEOPLE in a statement.
Yolanda and Malik’s representatives have not replied to several requests for comment. Following a TMZ claim that Gigi’s mother Yolanda was considering filing a police report against Malik for punching her. Malik issues a statement. He informs the outlet, he “vehemently” disputed Yolanda’s “false allegations” that he hit her.
Malik states in a Twitter message, he wants to create “a space where private family concerns aren’t thrust on the international stage for all to poke and pick apart,” adding the incident “was and still should be a private affair.”
Khai is the couple’s 13-month-old daughter. She is shared and co-parent by the ex-couple. The couple celebrated her birthday in September, and several family members paid passionate tributes to her. Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik were together at an American Music Awards afterparty in November 2015, they fueled romance speculations.Â
In April 2020, the couple confirmed Hadid’s pregnancy, which they had kept private during pandemic lockdowns. On Sept. 23, 2020, new dad Zayn announced the arrival of their first child together. The singer wrote on Twitter, “Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful.”
