Here's why John Cena presented the award n*de at the Oscars 2024

John Cena went all out to present the Best Costume Design award at the 96th Academy Awards ceremony. John Cena wore nothing as he appeared on stage at the Oscars to present Best Costume Design. Just before his arrival, host Jimmy Kimmel set it up and shared an anecdote about a streaker who ran across the stage at the 1974 Academy Awards.

Cena joked that he didn’t want to do such a thing, so he walked delicately across the stage while holding the card with the names of Oscar nominees.

Why did John Cena present the award nude at the 2024 Oscars?

To present the Best Costume Design award, John Cena peeked out from the side and told Jimmy Kimmel that he didn’t want to “do the streaker bit” any longer. He went on to say, “It’s an elegant event. Honestly, you should be embarrassed right now for suggesting such a tasteless idea. “The male body is no joke!” When Kimmel suggested that the WWE wrestler wrestles naked, he responded, “Dude, I don’t wrestle naked; I wrestle in jorts!” To this, Kimmel responded that jorts are worse than being naked.

“Costumes are so important. Maybe the most important thing there is!”

At this point, John covered his private parts with an oversized winner’s envelope and walked to the center of the stage, eliciting shock from the entire audience. He said, “Costumes are very important. Perhaps the most important thing there is!”

As the lights dimmed to read out the nominees’ names, several assistants arrived with an elaborate gown for him. He then revealed the winner of the category, Holly Waddington for Poor Things. She won the category, which included Jacqueline Durran for Barbie, Jacqueline West for Killers of the Flower Moon, Janty Yates and Dave Crossman for Napoleon, and Ellen Mirojnick for Oppenheimer.
