Do you like Pokemon? Netflix is developing a live-action Pokemon series. The series is presently in early development at the streaming platform. It is based on popular trading cards and video games.
Several episodes of the Pokemon anime series are available on Netflix. Before the announcement of the TV series, there was a film named ‘Detective Pikachu’ that was released in 2019. Ryan Reynolds appeared in the picture, which made $433 million worldwide.
From the makers of Lucifer
Joe Henderson, the co-showrunner of Lucifer, is developing and executive producing a live-action Pokémon series for Netflix. It will be comparable to but different from Warner Bros.’ version of Detective Pikachu, according to Variety. There are currently no specifics on whether the project, like Detective Pikachu, would draw plot aspects from an existing Pokémon game, the anime series, or any of the hundreds of previous Pokémon stories featured in the franchise’s past.
When it comes to collaborating with other firms on projects like these, Nintendo has a history of being fairly protective of its intellectual property. However, given Detective Pikachu’s unquestionable box office success, Netflix’s series makes sense. Especially given the fact that several seasons of the Pokémon anime are already streaming on the platform.
It would be interesting if the new series attempted to channel some of the nostalgia associated with the 25th anniversary. It’s also worth considering how a Pokémon show could explore the lives of non-battle Pokémon. As in Pokémon Snap, or the history of the Pokémon world, as in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. There are a variety of routes that Netflix’s Pokémon project might go in. They’re all likely to elicit mixed reactions from fans who have always dreamed about what living Pokémon would look like.
