What did Vexbolts do? TikToker loses millions of followers overnight

A TikTok creator known as Vexbolts has captured viral attention after a mass-following campaign skyrocketed his follower count by 4 million in just two days. Initially boasting around 2 million followers, Vexbolts saw his numbers surge to 6 million. However, the momentum may be short-lived, as many followers have organized a counter-campaign to mass-unfollow the creator on December 31, in a move dubbed the “Vexbolts Mass Unfollowing December 31st.”

Viral rise and potential decline

Approximately 3 million users have already unfollowed Vexbolts, dropping his follower count to 3 million. Social media platforms are abuzz with live follower-count streams and reactions to the phenomenon. The motivations behind the mass-following and subsequent unfollowing campaign remain unclear. Some critics dismiss it as a satirical online trend, while others point to dissatisfaction with Vexbolts’ content, which some have described as “cringeworthy.”

Vexbolts reacts

On December 25, Vexbolts acknowledged his viral success with a celebratory video marking 2 million followers. However, commentators were quick to highlight the irony, attributing his rise solely to the orchestrated mass-following campaign.

Community reactions

The campaign has sparked debates and responses from notable influencers. Streamers like JasonTheWeen and StableRonaldo have urged fans not to participate in the trend, while IShowSpeed encouraged followers to join the mass unfollow movement.

Mixed reactions on social media

Social media users have shared a range of opinions about the campaign. One user humorously suggested, “Bro could just deactivate for a solid week,” while another speculated that Vexbolts himself may have initiated the trend to gain followers. Others voiced frustration with TikTok’s enforcement practices, with one user claiming, “I received a strike for supporting him! Never in history has anyone ever received a strike for supporting a black innocent man.”

The Vexbolts saga illustrates the unpredictable and often fleeting nature of viral fame in the digital age. The unfolding story highlights the dynamics of social media trends and the power of collective user actions.
