Breezy Explainer: NBA 2K24 Takeover Icons: A comprehensive guide

In addition to returning to NBA 2K24, Takeover Icons have received a significant modification for this year’s edition. The new method is unquestionably an improvement, and all of the players stand to gain greatly from it. While using the icons during matches is the key, there are significant advantages to knowing the full list and unlocking them.

NBA 2K24 has seen a lot of new improvements and additions from Visual Concepts. Takeovers would differ considerably from how it operated last year, as was publicly revealed. The various alternatives that players will be able to select between matches are represented by the takeover icons.

In NBA 2K games, takeovers have always been a powerful technique. In NBA 2K24, the Takeover Icons function in a well-known manner. Players will have more discretion over how to employ these, though. After all, the player is now responsible for initiating an effect.

Players will see five Takeover Icons on the top left when the time is right. The alternatives that players have to choose from are listed below.

  • Finishing: Checkered flag (A/X)
  • Shooting: Sniper icon (X/Square)
  • Playmaking: Basketball with trail (Y/Triangle)
  • Defensive/Rebounding: Shield (LB/L1)
  • Physicals: Hand-holding dumbbell (RB/R1)

Although the technology may be new, the Takeovers’ activation process is well known. Each of the Takeover Icons will have a specific meter attached to it. Different activities connected to these activities will fill these meters.

The shooting meter, for instance, will be boosted by assists and baskets, while the defensive/rebounding icon will be filled by grabbing rebounds. The only method to fast-fill the meter is to keep performing the necessary tasks while a match is in progress.

The Takeover system in NBA 2K24 is a significant upgrade compared to the prior experience

Players can activate the effects once a meter is full by pressing the RS button on an Xbox controller or the R3 button on a PlayStation controller. The only difference between Double Takeovers and Team Takeovers in terms of how they operate is who will be included in the increase.

Keep in mind that every boost will have a time restriction and a threshold after which they will no longer be effective. To maximize the benefits of a Takeover, it is crucial to understand when to initiate it.

The Takeover system in NBA 2K24 is a significant upgrade compared to the prior experience, especially when combined with new features like ProPLAY.
