The All-India Senior Women’s Selection Committee on Tuesday announced India women squads for the one-off Test, ODI, and T20I series for their tour of Australia. The tour will be played between September 19 to October 11. The series will comprise 3 ODIs, one Test match, and 3 T20Is. Mithali Raj has been named the captain for the historic day-night Test and the ODI series. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the visitors in the T20I series.
India plays their first-ever day-night women’s Test at the WACA in Perth from September 30 to October 3. Earlier this year, India registered a historic draw against England in Bristol. Debutants Sneh Rana and Taniya Bhatia shared an unbeaten 104-run stand for the ninth wicket to secure a memorable draw for India. And after an impressive England tour, Sneh Rama finds a place in the Test and ODI squad for the Australia tour.
Meghna Singh, Yastika Bhatia, Renuka Singh make it to the Indian team for the Australia tour
The two uncapped players Meghna Singh and Yastika Bhatia have got a maiden call-up for all three formats for their tour of Australia. Another uncapped player, Renuka Singh of Himachal Pradesh has been added to the T20I squad. Left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad, who was out with an injury for India’s tour of England, is back into the squad.
India women’s team to leave for Australia on August 29
The Indian team will leave for Australia on August 29 from Bengaluru and will undergo two-week-long quarantine. Former India international Gargi Banerjee has been appointed the manager of India’s women’s cricket team for its tour of Australia. Banerjee was earlier the chairperson of the national women’s selection committee.
