Ronaldo creates history, becomes 1st player to score 700 club goals in top-level football

Cristiano Ronaldo, a Manchester United star, made history on Sunday night when he became the first player to reach 700 club goals.

In Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Everton at Goodison park, Ronaldo once again put his name in the record books with the game-winning goal. With 700 goals, Ronaldo has played a key role for Sporting Lisbon, Real Madrid, and Juventus, and is currently in his second stint with Manchester United.

Ronaldo pounced on a through ball from Casemiro on the left as the Portuguese striker took a couple of deft touches to set himself up for a neat finish with his left foot past the Evertonian goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to add yet another feather to his cap. Ronaldo had replaced Anthony Martial, who couldn’t shake off an injury, in the first half.

The Portuguese legend has recently had trouble cracking Erik ten Hag’s matchday lineup for the Premier League because the Dutchman prefers to field a younger front line while preferring to use the 37-year-old as a starter in UEFA Europa League games.

After the Manchester United star became the first player in football history to reach 700 goals at the professional level, Erik Ten Hag and Frank Lampard led tributes for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Both managers at Goodison Park praised Ronaldo for his incredible accomplishments, which include holding the top goal-scoring positions in both the Champions League and men’s international football.

Ten Hag remarked, “That is extremely impressive.” “Scoring 700 goals for Ronaldo, is a tremendous accomplishment. I’m overjoyed for him. I commend him on his performance and am pleased that it was his first Premier League goal of the year. He had to wait for it, and I have no doubt there will be more objectives”.

Frank Lampard lauds Cristiano Ronaldo after the game

“It is just outstanding, isn’t it?” Lampard said. “He’s one of the greatest players that has graced the game in an era when we have had himself and Messi. The comparison doesn’t matter, they are just incredible players in football’s history.

“To be going and look as physically good as he looks, to keep scoring goals as he’s done, the numbers he has racked up have become normal, abnormal numbers become normal year after year, looking after himself in the right way. I don’t know him particularly well but you can do nothing but admire those numbers.”

Antony became the first United player since 1972 to score in all three of his league games

On the same evening that Ronaldo reached his milestone, United’s newest player Antony broke another record.

The tricky Brazilian was brought to England by Ten Hag at a high cost, but the Sao Paulo native has adapted to life in the Premier League like a swan to water.

The 22-year-old Brazilian marvel became the first United player since Ian Storey-Moore in 1972 to score in all three of his league games as he received the ball from Frenchman Martial and slid it past a helpless Pickford.

Manchester United’s Performance so far

After a shaky start to the season, United’s victory on Sunday raised their point total to 15, moving them up to fifth place in the standings. The only clubs above them are their longtime rivals Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City, while Liverpool’s season deteriorated further after Sunday’s defeat to Arsenal.
