India captain Virat Kohli dropped four places to eighth position after team India’s early group-stage exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup. Kohli didn’t get to bat in the last three games, as a result of the fall in the rankings. While opener KL Rahul jumped three slots to fifth in the ICC men’s T20I Player Rankings issued on Wednesday. Riding on three half-centuries in India’s last three matches, KL Rahul is back again in the Top 5.
On the other hand, South African batter, Aiden Markram who played a brilliant knock against England of 52 in just 32 balls climb to the No.3 spot. His teammate Rassie van der Dussen too broke into the top 10 rankings as he climbed six spots to occupy the 10th position. Van der Dussen won the player of the match award in the last group stage game against England, where he scored 94* off 60 balls, which had helped the Proteas post a mammoth total of 189.
In the bowling department, Australian duo Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood climbed a few places in the latest T20I rankings. Both Zampa and Hazelwood have been in terrific form and played significant roles in Australia qualifying for the semi-finals of the World Cup. Zampa took a five-for against Bangladesh took him to the No. 5 spot. Fast bowler Hazlewood went up 11 places to sit on the 8th spot after his four-wicket haul against West Indies. New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee move three places up to No.9 in the bowling rankings.
In the all-rounder section, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga achieved an all-time career-high rating (173) and attained the No. 3 spot. Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh moved up the rankings in the all-rounder’s list as well. While Maxwell became the new No. 4 ranked all-rounder, Marsh ascended five spots to No. 9.
