Shreyas Iyer century: List of Indian batters with a century on Test debut

Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer on Friday became the 16th Indian batter to make a hundred on Test debut. The 26-year-old achieved the feat in the ongoing first Test against New Zealand on the second day of the match at the Green Park Stadium, Kanpur. Iyer scored 105 off 171 balls, striking 13 fours and two sixes during his brilliant innings.

Shreyas Iyer became the second batter after Viswanath to score a hundred on his Test debut at Kanpur. The elegant right-hander is the third Indian to score a hundred on debut against New Zealand after Kripal Singh in 1955 and Surinder in 1976. Iyer is also the third successive Mumbai player after Rohit and Shaw to slam a ton on Test debut.

A special moment for @ShreyasIyer15 💯
