The Seattle Seahawks — Everything we know so far from the OTAs

With the organized team activities (OTAs) well and truly underway in preparation for the NFL season in September, we’ve been taking a look at the team representing Washington, the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks have 9 OTAs, which is the only time during the offseason that they’ll have to come together as a team and practice on a football field. At the moment, the intensity of the OTAs is still relatively low, but as it picks up we’re sure we’ll know a lot more about how the Seahawks are shaping up.

There have been some incredible players coming out of the woodwork, and some events that may change the odds that might be given to the Seahawks. Let’s take a look together, and learn more about what the team has been up to so far.

The Seahawks’ odds — Place your bets!

Looking at what we know at the moment about the Seattle Seahawks and their OTAs, their performance is on the rise from 2022. Their luck seems to be changing, no doubt thanks to some impressive signings and re-signings. With their odds improving, many have been preparing to place their bets on the NFL season.

Although sports betting in the state of Washington has not been widely legalized yet, there is progress being made. The passage of House Bill 2638 in early 2020 saw Washington become one of the first states to make sports betting at tribal casinos formally legal. Digital sportsbooks are also legal, but so far only one official betting app is live, and it can only be used within the grounds of the state’s tribal casinos. You can find a list of reviews in BBI of the best Washington sports betting sites, ranked from the best welcome bonus to the best variety of sports to bet on so that when it comes to online sports betting, you’ll know which site is the best.

The Seattle Seahawks final roster

There is still plenty of time for the Seahawks to make their decisions on which members of the team will make the final roster, made up of only 53 men. Many NFL lovers and sports professionals have been placing their bets on who they think will make the final cut, but the Seahawks haven’t given anything away as of yet.

There have been projections from industry experts regarding who we’ll be seeing at week 1 of the season. Geno Smith and Drew Lock have been named as the favorites for quarterback positions; DK Metcalf, Dee Eskridge, and Tyler Lockett for wide receivers; Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks for inside linebacker; Uchenna Nwosu and Tyreke Smith for outside linebacker; Dre’Mont James, Cameron Young, and Jarran Reed for defensive tackles, to name a few!

New inclusions to the Seahawks

The NFL has been in the headlines recently, both for being the subject of controversy and for the number of new signings to various teams. There have been lots of new names in the Seattle Seahawks this year, including LaTrell Bumphus, Bobby Wagner, Evan Brown, and Jarran Reed, in addition to re-signing players Geno Smith and Drew Lock.

The decision to sign linebacker Bobby Wagner is a step towards strengthening the Seahawks’ defense, which has let them down in previous seasons. However, Wagner has only been signed on a one-year contract, so whether this will garner any long-term wins remains to be seen.

The re-signing of quarterback Geno Smith is big news for the Seahawks. Rather than let him become a free agent, they reached a $105 million, three-year contract with Smith. If his track record from last year is anything to go off, then we’re set to see some success from the Seattle team in 2023.

Likewise, keeping quarterback Drew Lock was a strategic move for Seattle. Lock did not have the best of luck in his first year with the Seahawks, contracting COVID-19 and being unable to appear in a regular-season match in 2022. (www.sociobits.org) His peers and coaches still have nothing but good things to say about him, which is making NFL fans all over the states apprehensive to see how he performs in the OTAs and beyond.

The Seahawks had a shaky 2022 season, and have been hard at work picking up the best in NFL defensive ends, to bring their odds up and play their best come September.
