England defeated Afghanistan in an astonishing semi-final by 15 runs to advance to the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Final. After a rain delay, England certainly scrambled to a competitive total of 231/6 in 47 overs, thanks to a 95-run partnership for the seventh wicket. However, Afghanistan brought the game to the wire, requiring 19 off the final 12 balls and with wickets in hand, only for Rehan Ahmed to capture three wickets in the penultimate over to leave the run chase 15 short. England reached their first U-19 World Cup final since winning the trophy in South Africa in 1998, thanks to a final over from Boyden. With their victory, England has finally qualified for an ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Final after a 24-year wait.
