Sunak lost to Truss in the battle to become UK PM

Last month, Sunak lost to Truss in the battle to become UK PM. On Thursday, only 44 days after taking office, Truss announced his resignation as a result of some terrible business decisions that caused a market collapse. Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng was fired last week after which Jeremy Hunt was made the new Chancellor.

The majority of Kwarteng’s financial judgments were quickly reversed by Hunt. Truss even expressed her regret and acknowledged that she had “made mistakes.”

Many in the party began to push for her resignation as resentment in the group grew. But Truss asserted that she would steer the party into the upcoming elections because she is not a quitter. She finally resigned on Thursday though she had tried to resist the pressure to do so.
