On Friday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) discovered a further secret document on former vice president Mike Pence’s property. This change occurs two weeks after Pence admitted that he keeps a “limited quantity” of official documents at his house. The document’s specifics were kept a secret. Devin O’Malley, a spokesperson for Pence, said in a statement that the material was discovered after a “thorough and unconstrained” five-hour search of the property in Carmel, Indiana. He said the search was done with Pence’s permission.
Pence and his legal counsel “completely cooperated with the relevant authorities”
O’Malley further added that they removed “one document with classified markings and six additional without such markings that were not discovered in the initial review by the vice president’s counsel”. Pence and his legal counsel “completely cooperated with the relevant authorities,” the speaker also said. Pence and his wife were not home during the search. However, it was said that a member of his legal team was present. For the search, the Justice Department had complete access to the house.
Pence claimed that a staff member had discovered secret documents last month. The Republican, who is considering a bid for the president in 2024, claimed that the papers might have been seized when he left the White House in January 2021 along with other items.
