'Finger cutter': Police arrest one of Europe's most-wanted criminals

Europe’s one of the most wanted criminal ‘finger cutter’ was caught in Switzerland. On Thursday, Zurich cantonal police reported the arrest of a 35-year-old Belgian. He had been on their radar “for forging documents” and was on international target.

Flor Bressers, 35, has been on the run since 2020. He was convicted to four years in prison. He was guilty of kidnapping, slashing with a razor. Not just this but he was also guilty of hitting a Dutch florist who flunked to smuggle drugs through UK customs. Earlier, he had faced charges in Limburg in 2010. He had reportedly cut off a Dutch criminal’s finger using pruning shears. Although there was no evidence against him, the incident gained him the name.

He and his partner are under arrest

The Belgian media started calling him a “finger cutter” for allegedly using secateurs to cut off a drug trafficker’s finger as punishment. Some also address him as “De Universitair” because he may have a degree in criminology. His partner, a 28-year-old Dutch woman, is also under arrest. Finger cutter has links to a drugs group based in Antwerp. The group is said to smuggle tonnes of cocaine from South America to Europe in several incidents. He is on the list for kidnapping, illegal restraint, and hostage-taking. Moreover, he has participated in a criminal organization, in both Belgian and Europol.

Patrick Céréda, head of media for Zurich Cantonal Police, told reporters that “in the proceedings here in Zurich, he is accused of forging identity papers on a large scale. Based on the information from abroad and the content of the international arrest warrant, we have to assume that the person is to be classified as very dangerous”.

Experts have warned that the terrible brutality of Mexican and Colombian drug cartels has been transported to Europe. Prosecutors in Amsterdam notified earlier this month that recreational drug users should think about the finding of a soundproof torture chamber in the Netherlands.
