Gabby Petito, a 22-year-old lifestyle influencer was found missing and then died under mysterious circumstances last month. Petito’s autopsy report is out and it shows she died by strangulation.
Dr. Brent Blue confirmed the report at a press conference, Gabby Petito’s cause of death is strangulation. We hereby find the cause and manner of death to be: cause, death by strangulation, and the manner is homicide,” he said. He further informed, under Wyoming state statute, no other information from the Petito’s autopsy will be out. Only the cause and manner of death. He says Petito’s body was “outside in the wilderness for three to four weeks” before it was found Sept. 19.
The doctor states his office was “extremely demanding” in its assessment and that the month-long delay was due to waiting for assistance from specialists, including a toxicology report. A whole-body CT scan was done. As well as investigations by a forensic pathologist and a forensic anthropologist.
There will not be an exact date of death on the death certificate, Blue says
Unfortunately, this is one of many deaths around the country of people who are involved with domestic violence. Unfortunately, these other deaths did not get as much coverage as this one,” Blue says. “I assume because the deceased was a blogger and this received more coverage than others. There are a lot of both men and women who have lost their lives who aren’t covered by the kind of media attention,” Blue said.
Petito’s abduction has prompted a national debate about whose disappearances garner public, media, and law enforcement attention. The body of the 22-year-old lifestyle blogger was discovered in the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Regular Instagram and YouTube postings from the pair depicted a relatively pleasant, carefree trip. Petito’s parents reported her missing on September 11. Two weeks after their last contact with her on August 25. A federal grand jury accuses Laundrie of bank fraud. They are linking Laundrie to the unlawful use of a debit card, with withdrawals totalling more than $1,000 during the time Petito was missing.
