Grimes pleads for son X’s privacy: “Don’t trust the law”

Singer Claims Legal Options Exhausted in Battle to Keep Children Out of Public Eye

In a passionate public statement that has sent ripples through social media, Canadian musician Grimes has made an emotional appeal for the privacy of her children with tech billionaire Elon Musk. The artist, whose relationship with Musk has made headlines for years, expressed deep frustration over her inability to shield their children from public exposure despite exhausting multiple avenues, including legal means.

“I have tried begging the public and my kids’ dad to keep them offline, and I’ve tried legal recourse,” Grimes wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter), suggesting that her previous attempts to address the issue privately have been unsuccessful.

Ongoing concerns about children’s public exposure

The former couple shares three children together: son X Æ A-Xii (known as Lil X), daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, and son Techno Mechanicus. In her statement, Grimes expressed profound worry about their visibility in public spaces and social media.

“I follow you here. I’ve seen young ppl destroyed by the internet too. The state of my children’s lives being public is of grave concern to me, and I think about how to solve this every day,” she continued in her post.

The musician characterized her public plea as a last resort, describing it as “insane” that she had to turn to social media to address such a personal matter. She further expressed disillusionment with legal protections, writing: “I would hope there was some law that would allow a parent to veto small children from living public lives, but I don’t even trust the law to help me now if I tried to invoke it tbh.”

How to protect your children from this? Can't you wipe this garbage from the internet? Art imitates life and I hope you find a solution. I've seen how the internet destroyed one of my children's life, if I had the resources, I'd do everything I could to keep them far from the…

This is not Grimes’ first public statement regarding her children’s privacy. Last month, responding to a social media post about her son being “very polite,” she openly criticized Musk’s decision to bring their child into public settings.

“He should not be in public like this,” she wrote at that time, adding, “I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.”

Family criticism of Musk’s parenting

Adding complexity to the situation, Elon Musk’s father, Errol Musk, recently criticized his son’s parenting abilities during a podcast appearance. “No, he hasn’t been a good dad,” the elder Musk stated last month.

In particularly pointed comments, Errol referenced the tragic loss of Musk’s first child, Nevada Alexander, with his former wife Justine Wilson. “The baby was cared for too much by nannies and, sadly, passed away while under their watch. If Elon hears me saying this, he might be furious or something, but this is simply my perspective. I don’t think it’s acceptable,” he said.

Expanding family

The public dispute comes amid news of Musk’s rapidly expanding family. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO recently welcomed his 14th child with Neuralink executive Shivon Zillis, shortly after conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair announced she had given birth to Musk’s 13th child.
