Meghan Markle, Britain’s Duchess of Sussex, gave birth to her second kid, a baby girl. She and her husband Prince Harry have named after Queen Elizabeth and his late mother Princess Diana. Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born on Friday at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, with Harry in attendance.
The birth follows a disturbing year for the couple, who have ventured down royal duties. They moved to the United States to carry on with more independent lives. But they are often in the public spotlight. Harry and Meghan’s first kid, Archie, was born in 2019.

Lilibet was Queen Elizabeth’s childhood nickname. Harry and Meghan’s choice to name their girl after the 95-year-old ruler came under two months after the demise of her significant other Prince Philip, the illustrious family’s man-centric figure. Diana, the previous spouse of Prince Charles and mother to Harry and his elder car accident in 1997.
Meghan, 39, declared she was expecting a girl during a sensitive U.S. TV meet in March with Oprah Winfrey, in which she blamed the royal family for racism and said she had felt self-destructive at the beginning of her marriage.
The interview tossed the family into crisis, extending a rift among Harry and William, and with his dad, heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles.
