Queen Elizabeth II complains of stiffness in legs

It won’t be wrong to say that age has taken over Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen complained of mobility concerns at her first formal in-person engagements on Wednesday, following reports that she may have come in contact with coronavirus last week.

“As you can see, I can’t move,” she said. She was seen standing with a walking stick in video footage. The 95-year-old monarch welcomed two senior Royal Navy officers at her Windsor Castle residence. She had indicated her left leg or foot as the source of her discomfort when she met the officers in the Oak Room sitting room at the castle west of London. Buckingham Palace did not respond to a request for comment. However, it is believed she was stiff rather than hurt or ill.

There has been speculation regarding the Queen’s exposure to COVID-19. However, there’s no confirmation about the tests. Prince Charles, her eldest son, tested positive for the virus for the second time, two days after meeting her. His wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, also then tested positive, and the couple has been self-isolating since.

She has been on the throne for 70 years this month. Queen Elizabeth hosted a gathering for locals at Sandringham, her estate in eastern England. This was on the eve of the 70th anniversary of her acquisition to the throne. It is likely to be her largest in-person public appearance since an unexplained health issue last autumn. Due to this, she had to spend a night in the hospital and then take a step back on medical advice.

The palace was facing criticism for its lack of transparency in the matter. However, it eventually confessed that she had spent the night in a hospital in October. Though it was for “preliminary” tests, the details of the same were never shared. She had two virtual audiences from Windsor on Tuesday, meeting with newly nominated diplomats from Estonia and Spain via video link.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the queen’s second son, Prince Andrew, reportedly settled a sexual assault civil action in the United States. On the other hand, police in London declared openly on Wednesday that they are glaring into documents that a Saudi tycoon was awarded UK honors in a swap for expenses to Prince Charles’ charitable foundation.
