Queen Elizabeth II's best ever fashion moments of all time

The longest-serving monarch in the history of Britain took her last breath on September 8, Thursday afternoon in her home at Balmoral. The life of the queen of England must have been surely filled with a lot of duties and achievements but despite all this, the queen never failed to amaze us with her extraordinary fashion sense. Her style, grace, and how she carried herself will always remain in our hearts. Let’s take a look at some of her most iconic outfits through the years.

1. Wedding dress

Princess Elizabeth (future queen Elizabeth II) married Philip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh in Westminster Abbey in 1947. This iconic wedding dress was designed by Norman Hartnell. It was made of luxurious Chinese silk. This dress had a high neckline, tailored bodice and a short train. The princess’s gown was inspired by a Botticelli painting. The design also featured 10,000 seed pearls imported from America. It was one of the most iconic dresses of the queen.

2. Princess Margaret’s wedding

At Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones’ wedding in May 1960, the queen wore a magnificent gown designed by British couturier Sir Norman Hartnell. It was a turquoise-blue dress with a matching bolero jacket.

3. When the Kennedys met the Queen

The queen met the Kennedys a few months after John Kennedy began his presidential term in 1961. He visited the palace with his wife where the queen wore one of her most iconic outfits. It was a Hartnell royal blue tulle ballgown along with white gloves for the occasion.

4. California visit in 1983

Queen’s one of the most talked about dresses is from her meeting with U.S. President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan in 1983. The president hosted this dinner in honour of the queen and Prince Philip at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. She wore his frothy, full-sleeved gown paired with beautiful jewellery and a handbag.

5. Royal Variety Performance

This harlequin sequin gown is considered one of her most controversial looks. The queen wore this bright gown with brightly coloured squares outfit for a royal variety performance in 1999. This dress had many positive and negative comments but is an iconic fashion outfit after all.

6. Opening ceremony of Scottish Parliament
