10 babies

Gosiame Thamara Sithole, a South African woman gives birth to 10 babies. Also, it has set a new world record. Her spouse claims that decuplets astounded them when scans revealed just eight in the womb.

“It’s seven boys and three girls. I am happy and emotional. I can’t talk much,” her husband Teboho Tsotetsi told Pretoria News after the birth.

According to the BBC, one South African official verified the deliveries, while another stated they had yet to see the kids. Ms. Sithole had 10 babies, according to a family member who did not want to be recognized. Five of them through normal delivery and five by cesarean section.

The Guinness World Record is currently investigating her case. In 2009, a lady in the United States set the Guinness World Record for the most infants born in a single delivery who survived. Halima Cissé, a 25-year-old Mali woman, gave birth to nine infants last month, all of whom are apparently doing well at a Moroccan facility.

According to BBC Africa’s health correspondent Rhoda Odhiambo, most pregnancies involving a high number of babies result prematurely. Multiple births with more than three infants are uncommon and usually the consequence of fertility treatments, but the couple claims they conceived naturally in this case.

A miracle – 10 babies

Ms. Sithole, 37, is the mother of twins who are now six years old. She claims to be in good health after giving birth in Pretoria on Monday evening at 29 weeks into her pregnancy.

Ms. Sithole told Pretoria News a month ago that her pregnancy had been “tough at the beginning” and that she had prayed for a healthy birth, having spent many restless nights worrying about what was to come.

“How would they fit in the womb? Would they survive?” she questioned herself. But the doctors comforted her that her womb was expanding.

Ms. Sithole was experiencing leg problems while carrying eight fetuses. Doctors also discovered that two of the eight “were in the wrong tube”. “That was sorted and I have been okay since then. I can’t wait for my children,” she told the newspaper at the time. Also, her husband expressed his delight and stated that he was over the moon, and felt like “one of God’s chosen children. It’s a miracle which I appreciate”.
